In a move aimed to digitally empower the tribal community, ESDS Software Solution Limited, a company offering one-stop solution for cloud, IT security, and managed services, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Nashik Midtown, has donated over 30 computers to 10 tribal schools. This comes as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The distribution ceremony took place on February 12, 2025, at the ESDS Data Centre in Nashik. Jitendra Pathak, Chief Operations Officer of ESDS, along with Ajay Jadhav, President of the Rotary Club of Nashik Midtown, and Madhuri Mahajan, President of Inner Will Club, distributed the computers to the beneficiary schools.
The computers were allocated to the schools in Nasik, Chikhalwadi, Eklahare, Dindori among others, raising awareness about the benefits of digital literacy and e-governance services while encouraging the adoption of digital tools.
“In today’s technological landscape, digital literacy is essential. However, many tribal and rural schools lack the necessary infrastructure for computer education. Recognising this gap, we have initiated this project to equip students with vital tools for a brighter future,” said Pathak.
Echoing similar views, Jadhav added, “By facilitating access to digital education, this initiative aims to open new learning avenues for tribal students and enhance their career prospects.”
According to the Tribal Development Report 2022, the literacy rate among PVTGs is just 47.7 per cent, far below the national average of 77.3 per cent which makes the scenario of digital growth extremely vital in these communities.
