The upcoming Mahakumbh 2025 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj will not only be a confluence of spirituality but also a platform for holistic health with the Union Ayush Ministry all set to offer a unique wellness experience, blending traditional practices like Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
The initiative aims to enhance the spiritual journey of millions of devotees by promoting natural healing and well-being, aligning physical health with the sacred atmosphere of the Kumbh, said Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Ayush after reviewing preparations for the Ayush initiatives for the grand event slated from January 13.
Elaborating the Ayush offerings for devotees at the mega fest, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Union Ayush Secretary said, “We have arranged services like 24/7 Ayush Multi-OPD clinics, mobile healthcare units, free distribution of Ayush medicines, and yoga camps, for all the visitors.
“For public awareness, information about these facilities is also being shared through popular media platforms including social media.”
As the Mahakumbh 2025 is set to attract over 40 crore pilgrims and the authorities anticipating it to be a historic event, efforts are being ensured it to be equipped with Ayush systems to compliment the health and wellness experience for the visitors at the global gathering.
A senior Ayush Ministry official said that pilgrims will have 24×7 access to personalized healthcare services, offering consultations and treatments rooted in natural and holistic practices of various Ayush systems. These clinics will ensure continuous health support for all visitors.
Led by experts from the Delhi-based Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) and the Uttar Pradesh government, Yoga camps will focus on improving balance, mindfulness, and physical well-being.
Also, an immersive exhibit will showcase the therapeutic properties of India’s rich medicinal flora. Similarly, fully equipped mobile healthcare units or Ayush mobile clinics will be stationed across the Kumbh grounds by the state Ayush society offering timely health support and ensuring immediate access to Ayush-based care for pilgrims throughout the event, said the official.
Traditional medicine, particularly systems like AYUSH from India are playing a significant role in the health practices of a large portion of the world’s population. The fact that 170 WHO Member States have acknowledged the use of traditional medicine reflects its importance in healthcare systems worldwide, the official added.
Combined with the AYUSH service sector’s valuation of US$ 26 billion in 2024, the industry’s overall worth exceeds US$ 50 billion. The Indian Ayush market is projected to grow from US$ 43.3 billion to US$ 200 billion by 2030, reflecting an exponential growth of eight times over the past decade, according to reports.
