Aiming to capitalise on the rapidly growing ultrasound device market in India, Esaote Group, a leading Italian innovator in medical imaging, has expanded its footprint here with the opening of a new manufacturing site at Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
This move will enable the medical imaging giant to locally produce a range of advanced ultrasound systems, including the My Lab™ A, My Lab™ E series, and Compact Portable Ultrasounds, specifically tailored for the Indian market.
The facility will be managed by its subsidiary, Esaote Asia Pacific Diagnostic Private Limited to cater the Indian market.
These “Made in India” products will integrate cutting-edge features like Augmented Insight and AI-based imaging technology, offering healthcare professionals enhanced diagnostic capabilities through compact, mobile, and battery-operated systems.
“The combination of AI-based features and advanced imaging technology will empower Indian healthcare professionals to make confident, informed decisions, ensuring accurate diagnostic outcomes,” said Franco Fontana, CEO of Esaote S.p.A.
These will be made available in the market by the first quarter of the next year, shortly after completion of regulatory and quality assurance processes by the relevant local bodies.
This strategic move comes as part of Esaote’s broader growth strategy to strengthen its presence in India, a market with strong growth potential where the company has been operating for over 20 years.
The new site also aligns with Esaote’s commitment to sustainability, as the company continues to combine “Italian innovation and design” with “Indian skills and digitalisation” to deliver value to customers and partners.
Franco Fontana, CEO of Esaote S.p.A., said that local production and a robust supply chain will support the company’s international development strategy, focusing on environmental and social sustainability.
Dheeraj Nasa, Country Business Manager Sales APAC, expressed confidence in the company’s innovative spirit and growth mindset, noting the importance of blending Esaote’s global expertise with local resources.
By manufacturing these ultrasound devices locally, Esaote not only supports the “Make in India” initiative championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but also aims to make healthcare solutions more affordable and accessible for the Indian market. This strategic move will help lower production costs, making advanced diagnostic tools more readily available across the country, he added.
According to recent reports, the ultrasound devices market in India is poised for significant growth, projected to increase from USD 231.86 million in 2023 to USD 316.18 million by 2028, reflecting a CAGR of 6.40%. This growth is primarily driven by the rising burden of chronic diseases, especially tuberculosis, which has heightened the demand for effective diagnostic tools like ultrasound.
Dr. Saurav Bhagat, a radiologist at Prayag Hospitals Group told a media house recently that the growing prevalence of such diseases is fueling the need for advanced diagnostic technologies.
In response to this demand, major market players are continuously introducing innovative ultrasound equipment, further accelerating the market’s expansion. This shift toward more advanced, AI-integrated, and mobile ultrasound systems align with the evolving needs of India’s healthcare sector, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostics for a larger population.
With the Indian ultrasound market on a clear growth trajectory, companies like Esaote are well-positioned to meet this demand, offering cutting-edge solutions tailored to the unique needs of healthcare professionals in India, said the experts in the sector.
Esaote Group is a leader in medical imaging (ultrasound, MRI and diagnostic process management software). With facilities in Genoa and Florence and its own production and research units in Italy and the Netherlands, Esaote is present in over 100 countries worldwide.
