Any person who is in possession of any living specimen of species listed in Schedule IV of the Wild Life (Protection) Act 1972, must report and register them electronically through the PARIVESH 2.0 portal to the Chief Wild Life Warden of the concerned State by August 28, 2024. Make sure to complete this registration by the deadline to avoid penalties.
This includes private individuals, organizations, and zoos.
“To do this, they need to use the PARIVESH 2.0 portal, which is an online system for this purpose. The registration rules were set by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and were announced in a Gazette notification on February 28, 2024,” said an official from the Union Environment Ministry.
“If you own any of these listed animals, you must submit your registration electronically through the portal or notify the Chief Wildlife Warden in your state within six months of the notification which is August 28 or within thirty days of acquiring the animals,” said the official.
