Reflecting the government’s proactive approach towards leveraging technology for the welfare, and development of people, a capacity-building workshop was held in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh recently which served as a platform to empower the elected representatives with essential knowledge, and tools in artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in the governance.
The workshop was chaired by Suresh Khanna, the UP Finance Minister and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of Uttar Pradesh and attended by over 270 ministers and MLAs of the State. Their participation in a large number underscored the government’s commitment to embracing innovative technologies for governance. The organization of the workshop involved collaboration between government agencies, AI experts, and industry partners.
The workshop commenced with a keynote address by Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, a renowned global AI expert and Chief Corporate Affairs and Public Policy Officer at InMobi. Dr. Chaturvedi provided insights into the transformative potential of AI and emphasized its significance for governance and economic growth.
The workshop comprised various sessions and presentations focused on different aspects of AI and its applications in governance. Topics covered included AI fundamentals, use cases relevant to the state’s context, ethical frameworks for AI deployment, and strategies for fostering innovation through AI.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions, sharing their perspectives and experiences related to AI adoption and governance challenges. These discussions provided a platform for knowledge exchange and peer learning among government officials from diverse departments.
The workshop concluded with a session focused on discussing the policy implications of AI adoption in governance and developing action plans for its implementation. Participants identified key areas for prioritization, such as data governance, skill development, and regulatory frameworks, to ensure responsible and effective use of AI in governance.
Overall, the workshop served as a milestone in advancing the state’s readiness to embrace AI-driven governance solutions.
