The Association of Physicians of India (API) has launched a groundbreaking initiative at its 79th Annual Conference by introducing the website ‘Cough Xpert,’ dedicated to enhancing knowledge and management of cough-related issues. Supported by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, a global pharmaceutical company, this medical initiative aims to provide comprehensive resources for healthcare professionals dealing with cough-related conditions.
The user-friendly website, ‘Cough Xpert,’ is designed to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing cough symptoms based on various parameters, including the type of cough, mucus characteristics, triggering factors, and accompanying symptoms. Additionally, it offers information on cough severity scoring, cough sounds, rational medication combinations, CDSCO-approved cough formulations, organoleptic properties, cough physiology, red flags indicating serious conditions, guidelines for referral to specialists, disease-specific resources, and patient awareness content.
In addition to the website launch, the API also unveiled a special supplement issue in the Journal of the Association of Physicians of India (JAPI) focusing on “Doxycycline – A versatile antibiotic for diverse conditions.” This supplement serves as a practical guide for healthcare professionals, providing insights into the efficacy of Doxycycline in treating various infections, including respiratory, gynecological, gastrointestinal, and dermatological infections, as well as its potential as an antiviral agent.
